“The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit” (Proverbs 18:21, NIV).
In this fifth part of this series on Reiki, I will speak life into you. As I shared in part 4 of this series, (see https://proclaiminglibertyblog.wordpress.com/2016/09/08/the-occult-practice-of-reiki-part-4-my-personal-experience-with-reiki/),
I had some freaky spiritual experiences as a result of practicing Reiki, including demonic dreams and telekinesis. When I repented of practicing Reiki, Satan put the fear into my mind that I would not be able to get rid of it and that I was therefore cursed. My friend/former Reiki master had told me during initiation that once you are attuned to Reiki, it stays with you for life. Before I had decided to renounce Reiki and was experiencing cognitive dissonance about it, I had been afraid to give it up because I thought it was a gift from God. So, I took comfort in the scripture that says that the gifts of God are irrevocable (Romans 11:29), thinking that if I ever gave Reiki up but still had the ability, then that would be proof that it was really from God. Once I became certain that Reiki is demonic and gave it up, however, I became afraid that it might indeed be irrevocable. That made me incredibly sad because I thought that from then on, I would have to pray for others’ healing without laying hands on them for fear of infecting them. Needless to say, I felt very guilty, ashamed, and contaminated. I was inconsistent about whether I would lay hands on others when praying for healing or not, because half of me wanted to believe that my fear was a lie, but the other half of me believed that it was true.
Up until recently—a few days ago, in fact—I had pushed my fear to the back of my mind and buried my feelings because they were too overwhelming. In the middle of the night, however, the Holy Spirit spoke to my heart that Jesus is for life, not Reiki. That truth has given me freedom. Remember that though Satan is the accuser (Revelation 12:10), there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ (Romans 8:1).
When Satan tempted Jesus in the desert, Jesus opposed him with scripture, saying “It is written… It is written… It is written…” (Matthew 4:1-11). God commands us to follow Jesus’s example. Ephesians 6:13 says to put on the armor of God so that we can stand our ground when Satan attacks us. Furthermore, verse 17 tells us to use the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
“For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart” (Hebrews 4:12, NIV).
If you are a Christian who has practiced Reiki, and particularly if you have had spiritually traumatic experiences with it and fear that you’ll be stuck with it for life, then here are your weapons.
It is written: “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16, NIV).
It is written: “Jesus answered, ‘Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life’” (John 4:13-14, NIV).
It is written: “On the last and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, ‘Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.’ By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive” (John 7:37-39, NIV).
It is written: “I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand. I and the Father are one” (John 10:28-30, NIV).
It is written: “Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me’” (John 14:6).
It is written: “Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us—for it is written, ‘Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree’” (Galatians 3:13, NRSV).
It is written: “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 8:38-39, NIV).
It is written: “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows” (James 1:17, NIV).
It is written: “For God’s gifts and his call are irrevocable” (Romans 11:29, NIV).
These scriptures reveal that, not only is Jesus for life, but He is for eternity! Jesus sacrificed His life for us on the cross as an atonement for our sins so that we may have eternal life. Then, He filled us with His Holy Spirit, His living water, when we believed in Him. Since we now have everlasting life in Christ, Satan cannot snatch us out of God’s hand! Satan cannot undo, whether with Reiki or some other form of spiritual bondage, what God has done for us. You don’t have to worry anymore that you are cursed for life with Reiki, because Jesus took our curses away when He bore them on the cross! Now this is the good and perfect gift of God that is truly irrevocable! Nothing—especially not Reiki—can separate us from the love of God that is in Christ! Reiki isn’t our life force, Jesus is!
“A man with leprosy came and knelt before him and said, ‘Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean.’ Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. ‘I am willing,’ he said. ‘Be clean!’ Immediately he was cleansed of his leprosy” (Matthew 8:2-3, NIV).
Back in Biblical times, no one would dare touch someone with leprosy for fear of catching it, but Jesus touched this man and made him whole! Therefore, fear not! You are not untouchable to Jesus! Once when Jesus healed a man with a withered hand on the Sabbath, He referred to healing as saving life (Mark 3:1-5). Therefore, fear not, because Jesus has saved your life from the life-long sentence of Reiki! You are not contaminated, my sisters and brothers in Christ.
“When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, having canceled the charge of our legal indebtedness, which stood against us and condemned us; he has taken it away, nailing it to the cross. And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross” (Colossians 2:13-15, NIV).
If you are not a Christian and have had frightening experiences with Reiki, and you want a way out, then Jesus is your answer! When the first humans, Adam and Eve, fell prey to temptation from the devil and sinned by eating from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, this caused humanity to fall from grace (Genesis 3). This brought death, sickness, curses, oppression, and more sin into the world. God gave humanity laws to obey, but it was impossible for humanity to be perfect, so they atoned for their sins by sacrificing animals (Exodus 20). Finally, roughly 2,000 years ago, God sent His only Son, Jesus to the Earth. He was born of a virgin, Mary, as a human (Luke 1:26-38). During His earthly ministry, Jesus showed the Father’s love by forgiving sins, preaching the good news, healing the sick, casting out demons, and raising the dead (John 11; Luke 4:18-19; Mark 1:34; Matthew 8:16), but the religious leaders and the world rejected Him and thus crucified Him (Matthew 26-27). However, it had been the Father’s plan all along for Jesus to be sacrificed on the cross as a once-and-for-all atonement for our sins so that we can have everlasting life and freedom from condemnation, sin, death, curses, sickness, and oppression (John 3:16; Galatians 3:13; Matthew 8:17; Romans 6:23). God resurrected Jesus from the dead three days after His crucifixion as proof of our new life in Him (1 Corinthians 6:14; Romans 6:4). When we believe in Jesus and that He sacrificed His life for us and rose from the dead, then we become children of God, born again of the Spirit (John 1:12-13, 3:1-21). If you want Jesus to be your personal Lord, Savior, deliverer, and healer, then all you have to do is confess your sins to Him, pray for His forgiveness, and ask Him into your heart. God gives us the gift of faith, and when we believe in His Son and what He has done for us, we receive His free gift of grace (Ephesians 2:8). God has given the gift, and all you have to do is receive it! Jesus will set you free from Reiki, and from all of your sins!
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. There was a man sent from God whose name was John. He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all might believe. He himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light. The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world. He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God—children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God. The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. (John testified concerning him. He cried out, saying, “This is the one I spoke about when I said, ‘He who comes after me has surpassed me because he was before me.’”) Out of his fullness we have all received grace in place of grace already given. For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. No one has ever seen God, but the one and only Son, who is himself God and is in closest relationship with the Father, has made him known” (John 1:1-18, NIV).
